Hot & Spicy Barbecue Sauce
Hot and spicy, just as the name suggests. Especially good for basting
charcoal-broiled meats.

Ingredients
1/2 cup minced yellow onion
1/2 cup minced sweet bell pepper
2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
1/4 cup olive oil
2 teaspoons chili powder
2 cups tomato purée
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1/3 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon crushed dried hot red chili peppers
1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt

Method
Stir-fry onion, pepper and garlic in oil in a saucepan over moderate heat 5 - 8
minutes until onion is pale golden. Add chili powder; stir-fry 1-2 mintues. Add
remaining ingredients, cover and simmer 30 minutes.

Use as a basting sauce for spareribs, beef or poultry.
