Grilled Peaches Ice Cream
Ingredients
2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
6 egg yolks, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
1 pint heavy cream
4 ripe peaches, halved, pitted, grilled [method follows], peeled and roughly
chopped

Method
Beat milk, sugar and egg yolks in the top of a double boiler until frothy. Set over
simmering water and heat 15 minutes, stirring now and then at first, constantly
toward the end. Cool, add vanilla and cream. Fold in the peaches. Freeze in a
crank – type freezer [hand or electric] or automatic ice cream machine, following
the manufacturer’s directions.

Grilled peaches: Oil and heat grill to medium. Put the peaches on the grill, cut-side
down, and cook until grill marks appear, about 3 minutes. Turn and grill until the
skin starts to shrivel and the peach softens, 4 minutes more. Remove to a plate and
set aside to cool slightly before proceeding.
